ECO SCHOOL HOUSE

內容簡介:

Microcinema released the documentary movie Eco School House, about the creation of the country’s first environmentally sustainable and progressive school, on DVD on May 31, 2011.

The film tells how, in the early morning hours of a cold 2007 Midwest winter in Columbia, Missouri, someone set fire to a classroom on the grounds of 100-year-old Grant Elementary School. Guided by an architect with help from a committed builder and a determined principal, they battled weather, financial challenges and time constraints to put it all back together again — and then some! In 2008, they completed construction on the first community-built, sustainable schoolhouse in the nation. Built with renewable materials and volunteer labor, the schoolhouse has sparked a progressive new curriculum for the students while providing a new dimension in education for everyone else.

Directed by Ken Leija and Avery Danziger, the 40-minute 2011 documentary has been shown primarily at sponsored screenings in the Midwest.
